Dated: November 6th, 1852. In this document, Bernard M. Campbell sells to Mr. Lewis I. Bagget with the following notes: ” two slaves named Washington Lawson, a negro age of about Twenty Years, valued at eleven hundred and fifty dollars and his brother William Lawson, a negro aged about seventeen years, valued at one thousand dollars, both fully guaranteed against the vices and maladies prescribed by law and free from all encumbrance.”
Comments: New Orleans was home to one of the largest slave trade markets in the Antebellum South.
