Statesmen of the Lost Cause, inscribed by General George Patton. Octavo, i-xvii, 452pp. Gilt title over blue label on spine. Publisher’s dust jacket, very good, sunning to spine, kicks along edges, discoloration on the back panel. Multiple illustrations. Housed in a brown leather clamshell case, raised bands, acid-free lining, title on spine. Inscribed by United States General George S. Patton, Jr. Inscription reads: “For the Commander – one of the best books I have ever read. G.S. Patton Jr.”

Comments: General George S. Patton, one of the United States’ greatest combat generals, led the Third Army during the decisive battles that followed the Allied Invasion of France in 1944. He was commander of the US Seventh Army during operations in Africa and Italy. He died at the age of 60 in Germany, shortly after the conclusion of WWII.
