In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, $5.00 on front flap, bright illustrations on cover and spine, a short closed tear along front flap, a near fine example.
Inscribed on half title by Dwight D. Eisenhower: “For Raymond Buck / with best wishes / Dwight D. Eisenhower / Dec. 11, 1949.” Includes PSA authentication and paperwork.
The recipient of this copy, Raymond E. Buck (1895-1971) was a Texas attorney, the president of Commercial Standard Insurance Company and the campaign manager of Lyndon Johnson’s first senatorial campaign in 1948. In the lead-up to his successful 1952 presidential campaign, Eisenhower made overtures to influential southern Democrats, such as Mr. Buck, likely the reason for sending him a copy of this book.
