Comments: A Complete Life of Gen. George A. Custer was published a few months after his defeat at Little Big Horn and includes a chapter on the battle. According to the Tal Luther (Custer High Spots), “…in addition to being the first [biography of Custer], this work is important as it served to stir up public controversy over the battle and the possible dereliction of Custer’s ranking subordinates.”
