First edition of A Fable by William Faulkner, in bright dust jacket. Octavo, 437pp. Original red cloth, printed title on spine, crosses on cover in black. Stated “first printing” copyright page. Clean pages, near fine. Publisher’s first state dust jacket, near fine condition, with $4.75 price and ‘8/54’ showing on front flap, light wear to top edge of spine. An excellent example in a near fine jacket.

William Faulkner considered A Fable to be his masterpiece, describing it as “the best work of my life and maybe of my time.”  The book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1955.
