Previous ownership inscription on front free endpaper in pencil. Light foxing to endpapers and title page, some wear to outer edge of text block, clean text throughout. Comments: The Illinois 95th participated in the Vicksburg Campaign, occupying Natchez after the Siege of Vicksburg was complete. After a summer in Natchez, they joined the Red River Campaign, but were forced back to Vicksburg after a swift defeat by Confederate forces.
