The deluxe limited edition of A Soldier’s Story by Omar N. Bradley, bound in full red morocco and limited to only six copies.

Octavo, xix, [1], 618pp. Title in gilt on spine, raised bands, five stars in gilt on cover. Stated “first edition” on copyright page. Top edge gilt. Illustrated endpapers with maps of the European theater. Complete with 17 full page photographic illustrations and 55 maps. Light surface wear to leather covers, solid text block. Letter affixed to half title with tape, ownership label on limitation page. This scarce copy is signed by General Omar Bradley on the limitation page, which notes that 750 copies were signed by the author. This copy is initialed “JPL” by Bradley on the limitation page. It was one of six copies specially bound for the publisher, Henry Holt and Company, and presented to board member, J. Patrick Lannan. An exceptional limited edition, with this being the only known copy of the six to emerge on the market.

The letter from the president of Henry Holt & Company to J. Patrick Lannan reads: “Dear Pat, I have had one-half dozen copies of the Bradley book especially bound in red leather and autographed by the General. The number one copy is yours. Please accept it as a token of my appreciation of your wonderful friendship. Most Sincerely, Ed”. – May 25, 1951. The book was gifted by Mr. Lannan to mathematician W.D. Gooda, with a thoughtful inscription: “My Dear Gooda, The greatest asset of the Americans and the English is their mutual understanding of one another’s problems. I sincerely hope that you learn to love America as much as I have learned to love England. Sincerely, J Patrick Lannan.”
