Octavo, xix, [1], 618pp. Tan cloth, title printed in red and blue over cloth on spine. Light rubbing to cloth at the spine. Illustrated endpapers with maps of the European theater. In the publisher’s very good dust jacket, $5.00 on front flap, fold through front panel, chipping along top edge. Inscribed by General Omar Bradley: “For my good friends, Celeste and Tom Morgan, with pleasant memories of our close association. All best personal regards, Brad. (Omar N. Bradley).”
Thomas A. Morgan (1887-1967) was the CEO of Sperry Corporation, which supplied radar systems and other technical equipment to the Allied Nations during World War II. In 1949, Morgan was appointed to the President’s Advisory Committee on Management by President Harry Truman, where he worked closely with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Omar Bradley. Later in life, he served as the chairman of the United Negro College Fund from 1945-1959. Morgan died in 1967. General Omar Bradley was a decorated army commander during World War II. He commanded the II Corps during the Allied invasion of Sicily, the First United States Army during the invasion of Normandy and ultimately the Twelfth Army Group, which comprised all members of the United States Army serving in Western Europe and stands as the largest United States Army formation in history. After WWII, he served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He became the last general to be promoted to the five-star rank of General of the Army.
