First edition of Lieutenant William Bligh’s Voyage to the South Sea, published in London in 1792 by George Nicol, bound with the first edition of A Narrative of the Mutiny,on Board His Majesty’s Ship Bounty, published in London in 1790.
Quarto, [10], 153pp, [1], iv, 88, [245] – 264pp. Original marbled boards, modern brown leather spine, title in gilt over original black leather label. Complete with 8 plates, including an engraved frontispiece portrait by J. Conde, 6 engraved maps (5 fold-out) and one illustrated plate. Bookplate of the Rev. R.G. Grylls, L.L.B. affixed to front pastedown endpaper. Dampstain affecting most of the plates, occasional impact to the text block.
