First edition of Lieutenant William Bligh’s Voyage to the South Sea, published in London in 1792 by George Nicol, bound with the first edition of A Narrative of the Mutiny,on Board His Majesty’s Ship Bounty, published in London in 1790.

Quarto, [10], 153pp, [1], iv, 88, [245] – 264pp. Original marbled boards, modern brown leather spine, title in gilt over original black leather label. Complete with 8 plates, including an engraved frontispiece portrait by J. Conde, 6 engraved maps (5 fold-out) and one illustrated plate. Bookplate of the Rev. R.G. Grylls, L.L.B. affixed to front pastedown endpaper. Dampstain affecting most of the plates, occasional impact to the text block. (Sabin 5910) (Ferguson 125) This copy has the first printing of A Narrative of the Mutiny, on Board His Majesty’s Ship Bounty (1790), bound in place of chapters XIII – XVIII, which are listed in the table of contents. (Sabin 5908a) (Ferguson 71) A scarce example of this work, with noted issues and unique addition of the A Narrative of the Mutiny from 1790.
