Authorship has also been attributed to Sir George Stephen and Sir James Stephen, though this American edition is catalogued under Samuel Warren.
The first edition was published in London by Saunders and Otley in 1839 under the title Adventures of an Attorney in Search of Practice; or, A Delineation of Professional Life.
