Hamilton by Ron Chernow was published on April 26, 2004, by The Penguin Press. The biography was a finalist for the 2005 National Book Critics Circle Award in Biography and won the inaugural George Washington Book Prize in 2005. Its success contributed to public interest in Hamilton and inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda to create the Broadway musical Hamilton, which premiered in 2015.
