Sylvian G. Kindall (1893-1954) was a U.S. Army officer and author, best known for this firsthand account of the American Expeditionary Force’s intervention in the Russian Civil War. Serving from 1918 to 1920, Kindall chronicled the challenges faced by U.S. troops in Vladivostok, including logistical hardships, political complexities, and tensions with Japanese forces. In addition to his wartime memoir, Kindall authored Total Atomic Defense in 1952, a work reflecting Cold War-era concerns about nuclear preparedness.
