Signed deluxe limited edition of An Admiral’s Log by Rear Admiral Robley D. Evans.

Octavo, [xi], [467pp]. Three quarter black morocco, marbled boards with gilt trim. Top edge gilt. Title in gilt on spine, four raised bands decorative gilt compartments. Marbled endpapers with toning to edges where they meet with morocco. Stated in laid-in prospectus “A Special Autographed Edition.” Solid text block, soiling to boards, separation at front joint, stable. Rubbing to corners and spine, slight fading to gilt. Previous ownership bookplate on front pastedown endpaper, pages unopened and clean, a very good example. Signed by the author on front flyleaf.

Robley “Fighting Bob” Evans (1846-1912) was a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. From 1907-1908, Evans commanded the Great White Fleet, which circumnavigated the globe and visited multiple countries to improve foreign relations and showcase U.S. naval strength.
