On March 5, 1977, President Jimmy Carter participated in live radio program entitled “Ask President Carter,” a call-in program on CBS in which citizens from across the country could ask him questions directly-unscreened and spontaneous. The segment was moderated by Walter Cronkite from the White House Oval Office, where Carter answered dozens of queries over a two-hour session, ranging from foreign policy (such as U.S. involvement in Uganda) to domestic concerns like job creation.
