Bill Holstein began his journalism career in Hong Kong in 1979 as a correspondent for United Press International, reporting on China and serving as Beijing bureau chief until 1982. He then spent 11 years at BusinessWeek overseeing international coverage, later writing for U.S. News & World Report, Business 2.0, Fortune, and The New York Times. He is the author of six books, including Did the American Media Get China Wrong? and The Next American Economy: Blueprint for a Real Recovery.
