Octavo, xv, [3], 333pp, [1]. Blue cloth, title stamped in gilt on the spine. The first printing, with no additional printings noted. Light rubbing to cloth, wear to tips of the boards. In the publisher’s near fine dust jacket, $6.95 retail price on the front flap, light wear at the head of the spine, a near fine example.
Inscribed on the front free endpaper: “For Carl _, with the compliments of ___ and with all good wishes from J.J. “Jacko” Clark.”
Admiral J. J. “Jocko” Clark (1893-1971) was a United States Navy carrier officer, captain of the USS Yorktown (CV-10) during WWII, and Commander of the Seventh Fleet in the Korean War. Born in 1893 in the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma, he was the first Native American to graduate from the U.S. Naval Academy.
