Winfred Rembert (1945-2021) was a Civil Rights activist who spent seven years on a chain gang and survived a lynching after participating in a march in the 1960s. He was a prolific lifelong artist, using hand tools and dye to create art on leather canvases. This memoir, Chasing Me to My Grave, was published posthumously. It received the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
