Octavo, xxi, [1], 666pp, [4]. Green cloth, title stamped in gilt on the spine. The second printing, with no mention of the “first printing” on the copyright page. Frontispiece portrait of Frost. Top edge dyed green. Light wear at head of the spine, faint foxing to endpapers. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $6.00 on the front flap, shallow chipping at head of the spine, faint foxing to verso, a few closed tears, a very good example.
Signed by the author on the front free endpaper, dated in another hand: “Men’s Lounge / University of Minnesota / October 20, 1961.”
The 87 year old former Poet Laureate, Robert Frost, visited the University of Minnesota in October, 1961. He arrived on October 18th, 1961 to visit English Professor Charles H. Foster. While in town, he spoke to a convocation of students and with the media at length about his travels to Minnesota and the recital of his poem “The Gift Outright,” at the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy, a few months before.
