Originally published in 1878 as Edinburgh: Picturesque Notes, Stevenson’s account of his native city combines personal recollection, historical observation, and descriptions of the Old Town, New Town, Greyfriars, Calton Hill, Parliament Close, and the surrounding landscape. The 1912 edition of Edinburgh was also published as a limited edition of 385 copies.
