Sir Charles Bell (1774-1842) was a Scottish medical professional best remembered for discovering the difference between sensory and motor nerves along the spinal cord. His work in anatomy led to the diagnosis of partial face paralysis, also known as Bell’s palsy. These essays offer a landmark discussion on the intersection of human psychological impulses and anatomical expression.
