Top edge dyed brown, untrimmed fore-edge. First printing with Scribner’s ‘A’ on copyright page. Ownership label on front free endpaper, bookseller’s label on rear pastedown. Dampstain affecting rear endpapers, the last chapter, and the top edge of the text block. Includes the first issue dust jacket, with $2.75 retail price on the front flap, and lacking the “Photograph by Arnold – Sun Valley” credit on rear panel. Chipping to edges of dust jacket, previously folded along spine, large dampstain to verso, date stamp along top edge of rear flap, a fair example. (Grissom A.17.1.a)
