Comments: At the time of publication of this book, Calvin Coolidge was serving as President of the United States. His term as governor brought him to national prominence, with his reaction to the Boston Police Strike. He famously noted that “…There is no right to strike against the public safety by anyone, anywhere, anytime…” Shortly after bringing the strike under control, he was offered the position of Vice President, serving alongside Warren G. Harding. With the untimely death of President Harding in 1923, “Silent Cal” rose to the office of President of the United States.
