First edition of Fructologia by Johann Hermann Knoop, published in the Netherlands in 1763.

Folio, [4], 132pp. Imitation tree-calf paper-covered boards with leather spine, title in gilt over red leather spine label, raised bands. Title page printed in black with red ornamental border. Floral endpapers. Extremities rubbed and worn, but binding is sound. Light toning to pages, occasional finger marks. Page 36 is misnumbered 43 (as noted in Johnston). Faint dampstaining along the edge of some pages and short closed tears to leaves D, O, P2, Q and Kk, not affecting text. Nineteen hand-colored engravings of fruits and nuts, brightly colored. Label on front pastedown endpaper belonging to Jacques Charles Puls of Ghent, a pharmacist and entomologist, who died in 1889. (Brunet III 681) (Johnston Cleveland Collections 465) (Pritzel 4754) (Stafleu & Cowan TL2 3767) A very good example, with issues as noted.
