Inscribed on the front free endpaper: “Woodrow Wilson / Princeton, 19. Dec., 1912.”
Includes a letter from Professor Charles R. Erdman Sr., professor of theology at Princeton, noting that he was delayed in sending the books “…because he was waiting for Governor Wilson to return from Bermuda,” to have him sign a copy. As was common during presidential transitions, prior to the adoption of the Twentieth Amendment which shortened presidential transition periods, President-Elect Wilson took a month-long vacation in Bermuda, returning to the United States on December 17, 1912. While on vacation, he worked with the outgoing President Taft and developed a cordial relationship with his predecessor.
