Brown cloth, title in gilt on spine, embossed illustrations in black, eagle in gilt on cover. Gray endpapers. Some wear at edge of spine, shelf wear to cloth along bottom edge. Comments: The 124th Illinois Infantry Regiment was commissioned in August of 1862. They joined the front lines in Jackson, Tennessee, then participated in General Grant’s Siege of Vicksburg. They remained in the western theater, moving south to New Orleans to fight in the Battle of Mobile Bay, the last important Confederate port on the Gulf of Mexico.
