Octavo, [i]-viii, [1]-359pp, [1-blank]. Contemporary three quarter brown morocco, title in gilt on spine, publisher’s original marbled boards, green endpapers. Handsomely rebound spine, reinforced text block. Clean text throughout, solid text block. Large fold-out map of the Oregon Territory, from Northern California to British Columbia, in near fine condition. Map was executed by Dunn, based on his own experiences, and drawn on stone by J. John Dunn was an employee of the Hudson’s Bay Company. This account is a detailed look at their operations in the Pacific Northwest. The first edition of this work was printed by Edwards and Hughes of London in 1844. The first American edition was printed in 1845 in Philadelphia by G.B. Zieber & Company (Sabin 21322). This copy is the second edition, as stated on the title page.
