Illustrated with 12 figures in the text and 50 color plates, some heightened with silver, each protected by a tissue guard. Published as the fourth memoir of the Travaux de l’Institut Océanographique de l’Indochine. This first part was the only part published. Chromolithographic plates after Lê-van-Phu and L u Kh c Khiêm. All plates in fine condition.

A major illustrated study of the fishes collected during the research voyages of the de Lanessan from 1925-1929. Chevey describes 33 marine and 17 freshwater species from Indochina. The striking plates were produced after watercolors by Vietnamese artists associated with the Institut Océanographique, including L u Kh c Khiêm. The work combines scientific ichthyology with an unusually accomplished record of the marine and freshwater ichthyofauna of colonial Indochina.
