Octavo, [8], 307pp, [5]. Full brown cloth, title in gilt on front cover and spine. Decorated with green and black stripes. Illustration in color affixed to front cover. Black topstain. BAL binding state “B,” with spine imprint reading “Dodd, Mead / & Company.” Stated “Published September, 1903” on copyright page. This is the first printing, with two blank leaves at rear. Solid text block, thin split along gutter by copyright page. Touch of wear to corners, faint offsetting to endpapers. A vibrant, near fine example. Complete with ten full-page plates, including frontispiece.
