The complete set of Kate Greenaway’s Almanacs, 14 Volumes, printed from 1883-1897.
Miniatures, color pictorial covers. Each volume with color illustrations, four with top edge gilt and bound in full morocco, others with printed boards. Lacking original glassine wrappers. All measure 4″x3″, with the outlier being the 1884 issue (5.25″ x 3.75″). Housed in custom full blue morocco clamshell box, decorative raised bands, brass clasp, title stamped in gilt on the spine, lined with beige silk. All in fine condition, trivial toning to leaves, as expected. No almanac was produced for 1896. (Schuster & Engen, 3.1-16.1)
Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) was an English illustrator and author best known for her charming depictions of children and idyllic scenes from Victorian life. Her delicate watercolor style and works such as Under the Window and Mother Goose helped define the golden age of children’s book illustration.
