Signed by Charles Francis Adams, two bound pamphlets, Lee’s Centennial: An Address (1907) and An Address at the Opening of the Fenway Building (1899).

Octavo, [8], 76pp; [2 blank], [1]-41pp. Green cloth, title in gilt on spine. Drop of ink at the bottom of the front wrapper of Lee’s Centennial, affecting first six pages. Inscribed by the author on the cover of the pamphlet, bound into this work.

Charles Francis Adams, Jr. (1835-1915) was the great-grandson of President John Adams and the grandson of President John Quincy Adams. He fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War, serving with distinction at Gettysburg. By the end of the war, he was promoted to the rank of colonel, and in 1866, he was awarded the rank of brevet brigadier general. Adams would later serve as the President of the Union Pacific Railroad from 1884-1890, after which he would become a prominent American historian.
