Small folio, [two volumes], xviii, 344pp; vi, 386pp, [2]. Brown buckram with gilt titles and decorations. Illustrated with 32 tipped-in color reproductions. Additional woodcut portraits appear throughout the text. Most reproduce the portraits prepared for Vasari’s 1568 edition. Five portraits were drawn by Fritz Kredel. In the publisher’s gray printed dust jackets and marbled paper slipcase, both fine.
One of 1500 numbered copies signed by Mardersteig on the limitation page, this being number 85.
