Eugene O’Neill was an American playwright and Nobel laureate in literature. He is best remembered for this work, Long Day’s Journey into Night, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1957. In the 1920s, O’Neill won the Pulitzer Prize three times, in 1920 for Beyond the Horizon, in 1922 for Anna Christie, and in 1928 for Strange Interlude. His other works include The Emperor Jones, Desire Under the Elms, Mourning Becomes Electra, and Ah, Wilderness! One of his best works, The Iceman Cometh, was produced in 1946. O’Neill died in 1953.
