Description

First edition of March to Quebec: Journals of the Members of Arnold’s Expedition compiled and annotated by Kenneth Roberts.

Octavo, xiv, 657pp. Red cloth, title in gilt on spine. Stated “first edition” on copyright page with no additional printings listed on page with bibliographical note. Solid text block, gift inscription on half-title, small newspaper stain on pages ten and eleven due to bookmark labeled from 1949, faint offsetting to endpapers, top edge dyed red, a near fine example. In publisher’s dust jacket, $4.00 retail price on front flap, shelf wear and some chipping along edges, a very good example.

Kenneth Roberts was a historical fiction writer who won a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation in 1957 for his novels focusing on early American history. March to Quebec features many of the journals kept by Benedict Arnold and his fellow men in the American Revolution. It is the basis for some of Roberts’ more popular novels.
