Octavo, [five volumes]. Bound in calf, five raised bands, title in gilt on spine. Light wear to hinges, some rubbing to corners, with chips and creasing along spines. Text relatively clear inside, with a few occasional wormholes along edges of leaves. Previous ownership bookplates and inscriptions to front endpapers. (ESTC T143316)

This work is an English language translation of Memoirs of Maximilian de L’Ecluse des Loges, Pierre-Mathurin de, published in France in 1715. Maximilien de Bethune (1560-1641) served as the Chief Minister of France from 1589 through 1611. He was a trusted financial advisor to Henry the Great.
