First edition, first printing of Men Without Women by Ernest Hemingway, in a first issue dust jacket.
Octavo, [xii], 232pp, [4]. Smooth black cloth, title on gold paper labels. The first printing, with Scribner’s seal on copyright page, proper weight of 15.5 oz and the perfect “3” type. Top edge dyed yellow, illustrated yellow endpapers, uncut outer edge. Point of rubbing to lower tip of front board, light rubbing to gold title label on the spine, a near fine example. Bookplate of Christopher Clark Geest on the front pastedown.
In the publisher’s first issue dust jacket, $2.00 retail price, “thirteen” stories error on front flap, lacking blurbs on front panel. Scuff mark to front flap at the $2.00 retail price (still distinguishable), a few short closed tears, toning and light soiling to the spine, a very good example.

The first printing of Men Without Women consisted of 7,650 copies, which quickly sold out. A second printing was released later in 1927. The only difference between the first and second printing was the weight of the paper stock, resulting in a slightly heavier first printing. The second issue dust jacket contained blurbs from reviewers on the front cover.
