Octavo, two volumes, [xvi], 400pp; [xii], 436pp. Blue cloth, title in gilt on spines, facsimile signature in gilt on front covers. Top edges gilt. Stated “First Edition, Printed March 10, 1931” on the copyright page of both volumes. Solid text blocks, faint sunning to spines, offsetting to endpapers of Volume II. Previous owner’s bookplate on front pastedown of both volumes. Near fine examples. Housed in the publisher’s “First Edition” slipcase, stated on side panel, solid binding.
In the publisher’s first edition dust jackets, $10.00 retail price on front flaps, stated “First Edition” on the front panel, light soiling to spines, dampstain at lower corner of Volume II, both very good examples, scarce in this condition.
Volume I is signed by John J. Pershing on the half-title.
