Octavo, xxii, [2], 336pp. Red paper boards, black cloth spine. The first state, with “First Edition” on the copyright page, and the “S52” gutter code on page 336. This copy appears unread; the text block has never been opened and remains stiff. Housed in a custom gray cloth clamshell, title over red morocco label on the spine.
In the publisher’s first state dust jacket, “N.S. / $8.95” retail price on front flap, bright illustrations along the spine, a fine example.

King’s first collection of short fiction, with an introduction by John D. MacDonald and stories including “Jerusalem’s Lot,” “Graveyard Shift,” “The Lawnmower Man,” and “Children of the Corn.” The initial print run was 1,500 copies, the smallest of any first printing of King’s work.
