Octavo, [two volumes], xxii, 320pp; vi, 323-698pp. Blue cloth, title on paper label on spines. Stated “First Edition” on copyright page of both volumes. Both volumes appear unread, fine examples. In the publisher’s dust jackets, both noting “Autographed Edition, Two Volumes, Boxed” on the front panels of the volumes. Both with minimal toning, as is normal with this edition. Housed in publisher’s “Autographed Edition” slipcase, faint soiling to side panel, solid binding.
From a limited edition of 750 numbered copies signed by Secretary of War, Henry L. Stimson, on the limitation page of volume I, this being number 688.
A fine set, one of the best we’ve encountered.
Henry L. Stimson (1867-1950) served as Secretary of War from 1911-13, Secretary of State from 1929-33 and Secretary of War from 1940-45.
