Octavo, xix, [5], 360pp. Black cloth, title stamped in gilt on the spine. The first printing, with no additional printings noted. Appears unread. Includes numerous maps, photographs and illustrations. In the publisher’s dust jacket, light wear at head of the spine, a near fine example.

Signed by Admiral Sandy Woodward on a bookplate, affixed to the half title.

Admiral Sir John “Sandy” Woodward (1932-2013) was Flag Officer First Flotilla, the commander of the carrier battle group during the 1982 Falklands War. A submariner by training, Woodward rose through the ranks of the British Royal Navy and was appointed commander of the task force centered on HMS Hermes after Argentina’s invasion of the Falkland Islands. His decisions in the naval engagements and the sinking of the General Belgrano, was instrumental in Britain’s victory.
