Edward Said (1935-2003) was a Palestinian and American academic and activist, recognized as one of the founders of post-colonial studies. Said wrote numerous influential works on the Western and Eastern worlds, including Orientalism (1978), The Question of Palestine (1979), Covering Islam (1981), and more.
