One of 1,500 numbered copies signed by Mangelsen, this being number 614. Housed in the publisher’s matching black cloth clamshell case, with color photographic onlay affixed to front panel. Includes the original ilfocrome print by Mangelsen, with tissue cover. Housed in the publisher’s original cardboard shipping box. A fine example.
Polar Dance documents the polar bear and Arctic wildlife through Mangelsen’s photography and Bruemmer’s accompanying natural history text. The title takes its name from Mangelsen’s celebrated photograph of two polar bears appearing to dance in a Hudson Bay snowstorm, later named one of the “40 Most Important Nature Photographs of All Time” by the International League of Conservation Photographers.
