Light offsetting to endpapers, internally clean. Solid text block. Lacking the publisher’s scarce dust jacket. Precious Bane won the Prix Femina Vie Heureuse Prize and became Webb’s best-known work.
Webb’s best-known novel, set in rural Shropshire during the Napoleonic period and narrated by Prue Sarn, whose “hare-shotten” lip shapes both her isolation and her inward life.
