Quarto, [56pp], [10]. Full crushed brown levant, title in gilt, raised bands along spine. Intricate floral gilt hand-tooled illustrations on both covers. All edges gilt, gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. Scattered foxing to preliminary leaves, solid binding. Complete with 26 illustrated comic plates by E.T. Reed, and a tailpiece illustration. Publisher’s original cloth boards and spine affixed at rear. Bookbinders “Exhibition Stamp” on the rear pastedown.

Prehistoric Peeps was a popular cartoon series of humorous, caveman-themed drawings created by English illustrator Edward Tennyson Reed in the 1890s and published in the British humor magazine Punch.
