Light foxing along leafends, a few foxed leaves in the index. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $15.00 retail price on front flap, faint sunning to spine, short closed tear along top edge, a very good example.

Robert Amory Jr. (1915-1989) served as the CIA’s Deputy Director for Intelligence from 1953 to 1962, overseeing the Agency’s analytic directorate during the Cold War and guiding the production of National Intelligence Estimates for multiple administrations. During World War II, Amory served in the South Pacific, commanding an amphibious-engineering battalion, earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Legion of Merit. After leaving the Agency, Amory became Chief of the International Division at the Bureau of the Budget, later entering private law practice and serving as secretary and general counsel of the National Gallery of Art.
