In the publisher’s “proof jacket,” a “probable price” of 25/- net retail on front flap, ring mark on front flap, light shelf wear and toning to panels. The only known example of the “proof copy” to reach the public market.
Ring Of Bright Water is Maxwell’s memoir of life with otters at Camusfeàrna, the name he gave to his remote home at Sandaig on the west coast of Scotland. The book became Maxwell’s best-known work and was adapted into the 1969 film of the same name. The text was updated by the author in 1962 and released as “The Otters’ Tale,” a simplified edition for children.
