Description

The first edition of Sixty Million Jobs, signed by Vice President Henry A. Wallace.

Octavo, [6], 216pp. Gray cloth, title stamped in gilt over red printed label on the spine. The first printing, with no additional printings noted. Top edge dyed red. Light wear to tips of the spine. Internally clean, some toning to edges of text block, still easily readable. In the publisher’s dust jacket, $2.00 retail price on the front flap, a few older tape repairs to verso, short closed tears, faint foxing along boards, sunning to spine, bright illustrations, a very good example.

Signed on the front free endpaper: “For Rusty Ruskin / Henry A. Wallace.”

Henry A. Wallace (1888-1965) served as the 33rd Vice President of the United States alongside Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1941-1945. Some considered Wallace too liberal for party leaders going into the 1944 Democratic National Convention, and Harry S. Truman took his place.
