This copy is inscribed on the half title: “To Meredith L. _ / with warmest personal regards / Wernher Von Braun.”
Wernher von Braun (1912-1977), was a leading figure in the U.S. space program, and a prominent public advocate for space exploration. His various works include Das Marsprojekt (1952), published in English as The Mars Project (1953), Conquest of the Moon (1953), The Exploration of Mars (1956, with Willy Ley), First Men to the Moon (1960), and later History of Rocketry & Space Travel (1967, with Frederick I. Ordway III).
