Octavo, [three volumes], [5], 329pp; [4], 304pp; [4], 301pp. Publisher’s green pebbled cloth, title in gilt on spine. Yellow endpapers, with some wear at hinge of Volume I. Half-title in Volume I. Previous ownership bookplate affixed to the front endpaper of each volume. From the library of Oliver Hoyt, a member of the Connecticut Senate. Housed in custom clamshell case by James Mcdonald Co. of New York, quarter green morocco, individual chemise for each volume, title in gilt with three compartments. (Sadleir 3186) (Wolff 4088)

The Adventures of Philip was the last novel completed by William Thackeray before his death in 1863. It was first published as a serial in Cornhill magazine between 1861 and August of 1862, with illustrations by Frederick Walker.
