Octavo, xvi, [17] – [275]pp, [1], [4pp ads]. Publisher’s original blue woven cloth, title stamped in gilt. Notable wear to cloth on the spine, rubbing to gilt, some loss of blue dye. Text block solid, free of notable internal wear or marginalia. Complete with frontispiece portrait and 71 illustrations by E.W. Kemble. Contemporary ownership signature on front free endpaper, dated April, 1877. This is a third issue of Tom Sawyer, with the only number page in the preface being “XVI.” The half-title printed on verso of frontispiece, advertisements dated December 1st, 1876.
