Solid text block, bumped corners, offsetting from newspaper at rear endpapers. Complete with 12 black-and-white illustrations by Jack B. Yeats, including a frontispiece protected with tissue guard. Housed in a custom dark blue cloth chemise, title in gilt on blue morocco spine.
The Aran Islands are a trio of islands off the west coast of Ireland. John Millington Synge (1871-1909) spent some time on the islands following a recommendation from fellow author W.B. Yeats.
Advance reading copies and partial printings for magazines appeared in 1906. This copy is the first trade edition.
